Fitness a focal point for new signing Correia

Valencia CF's scouting reports for new signing Thierry Correia identified a player with elite-level fitness. Capable of displays of intensity, power, speed and endurance, the 20 year old is one of the Portuguese players regarded as having the most potential from his generation.

Whilst this is something that he has developed, his genetics have made a big contribution to his attributes. Those close to him say that his physique is something that he has inherited from his father, and although he was always tall for his age, it was two years ago that he had another growth spurt that stepped things up.

The coaching staff at Sporting CP decided to provide Correia with a routine that would fine-tune the different physical gifts that he possessed, and a gym programme designed to prepare him to win individual battles on the pitch.

Correia has continued with this routine ever since, and looks to bring his physical presence to stadiums around LaLiga in his debut season with Valencia CF. The team's intensity and high fitness levels -such as that demonstrated by fellow defender Eliaquim Mangala in his own fitness programme used to recover fully from injury- mean that he is in esteemed company.
